In today’s Barna Highlight, we’re sharing another bite-sized finding you can use to become a more informed leader.
Just because a word or phrase is common in church leadership, doesn’t mean it’s common among churchgoers.
For example, half of all U.S. churchgoers (51%) say they are unfamiliar with the term “the Great Commission.”
While this statistic might indicate an opportunity to teach more Christians about the Great Commission, it also reminds us of the importance of speaking in accessible language—especially as we approach Easter Sunday, a time when people with even less spiritual education can be more open to spiritual conversations.
This surprising finding comes from Translating the Great
Commission, a report we created with Seed Company. If you’d like to learn more about what spreading the gospel means to U.S. Christians in the 21st century, be sure to pick up a copy.
We hope this Barna Highlight will help you lead more intentionally in your context.
